7th April 2008 : Start of a Practice

My name is Thanabalasingam and I am a Tax Accountant. A term rarely used in Malaysia as most of our species are referred to as either Tax Agents, Tax Managers or something similar. I on other hand being self employed have the luxury of calling myself anything I want including the CEO of my business.

I have been in the tax industry for the past 10 of my 13 years working experience. Yes, I started young in tax and have got hooked ever since.

Anyway, being true to the topic I am going to make a resolution. I will make attempt to record any or all events, happenings or just advices on the matter at hand. TAXES and FINANCE IN MALAYSIA.

Hope you'll enjoy reading my blog and please feel free to comment on my notes on the subject or drop me mail personally. Thank you.

Hi taxsaya,

I saw your post on lowyat.net, there was a post by you on the forex income but then no further explanation for it. So, I would like to know if I consistently making monthly income from forex trading. Would I be taxed by the LHDN if the forex income is debitted into my personal account. Should this income to be declared and what will be the implication if I dont?

By the way, is forex income catagorised as capital gain?

your feedback is much appreaciated. thanks.
